If you work in the financial
industry, Toronto is probably on your itinerary. From
Royal Bank of Canada (nyse:

Bank of Nova Scotia (nyse:

) to the
Canadian offices of Merrill Lynch (nyse:

) and
American Express (nyse:

), they're
all located within blocks of each other. While in the
financial district, be sure to look up. The architecture
is fantastic and includes buildings designed by I.M.
Pei and Mies van der Rohe.
The city
has always had its share of luxury hotels. This is where
the Four Seasons (nyse:

) was
born. What it didn't have was somewhere hip to stay in a
funky neighborhood; the fudge ripple, if you will, in
the vanilla.
That changed when the 89-room SoHo Metropolitan
opened in April 2003 in the 24/7 Entertainment District,
perfect if you want to check out the clubs or theater or
take in an event at the Rogers Centre. But it's also
within walking distance of the Financial District.
Local hotelier Henry Wu, who also owns the
Metropolitan hotels in Toronto and Vancouver, teamed up
with Bruce Greenberg, a local developer to build
a condo tower with a luxury hotel at the base. The first
four floors are the hotel and the other 12 are filled
with two-story loft condos, which share services with
the hotel.
If you're looking for a change
of pace, something unexpected, this is the place. Like
the neighborhood, the lobby, bar and restaurant are
filled with the hip and the young.
You can't pop around the corner
to Gucci or Prada as you can at the
Yorkville-area hotels, but if you're in town for
business or entertainment, the SoHo Met is an excellent
choice. If you're there for the Toronto International
Film Festival, you'll find the stars at the Four Seasons
or the Windsor Arms--for now.
Our
Business Centre is located on the second floor and is
equipped with state-of-the-art office equipment. The
Business Centre staff will be pleased to assist with
your business services requirements. |
